When we talk about fashion and make-up, invariably, all our focus is shifted to how to do your eyes right. However, it is equally important to focus on your lips as well, to give a finished look. Most of us obviously do apply a lipstick, but popping some colour for the heck of it isn’t how it’s done. When accentuated nicely, you can have all eyes on you, but you step overboard and all your charms go down the drain.
In order to get the right pout, you need to wear makeup tactfully. Your natural lip shape, colour, skin complexion and the time of the day, all play an imperative role in deciding what hues and application style will suit you best, says a style and makeup expert at YSL India.

Here is a guide to help you through. But before we start, here is a golden rule: pick either your eyes or your lips to accentuate; doing up both renders you as very plastic and clownish.
Thin Lips
The best part about having such lips is you can manoeuvre the shape and pout as you please. Bee stung is in, but that’s not the absolute shape to define beauty. If you have a fair complexion then use nude and natural shades. All shades of pink and rose are made for you. You can add the plump later by using a good quality volumizer gloss; try YSL India’s Gloss Volupte. Basically, you can pretty much play with any colour but avoid anything too dark. Brown, jade, purple, maroon etc. are not your colours as they make lips look withered out.
Full Lips
Since, you already have the much admired fuller pout; there are absolutely no shades that you should avoid. Go fuchsia with your lipstick nail paint, shoes and fashion bag Mumbai, and match them exactly. However, remember to tone down the eye makeup and don’t use very bold or tacky accessories. If you are a fond of gloss, use it sparingly only at the middle of your lower lip and smudge it.

Day
Don’t go for extra glossy or sparkly lipsticks. Use creamier tones to give you a fresh and professional look. Or if you plan to wear gloss, then skip colour. Anything too flashy in daylight can make you look like Vamps.
Night
Now is the time to let loose your desire for hues and sparkles. Glitters and gloss look best at night. You can also practice the red stick look.
